I'm past due for a post

I'm way past due for a post of the stuff I have been working on. This is some of the sketches i was working on for a illustration I'm making as a gift for The School of Cantonese Opera in Guangzhou, China. They hosted us for a day, and my teacher thought it would be nice to send them gifts or work as a thank you. The actual Illustration should be done in the next couple days.

THEM BLACK SHOES

Here is a pair of shoes that I was painting for a friend. He never responded so I just kept them, got some black laces to go with them. Next pair are Evangelion themed, 01, so purple and green.

Yesod

My most recent piece is Yesod, it is derived from Kabbalah, and means foundation. It is the sephirot that connects all that is spiritual to the physical world. Other definitions I've heard are,

"Yesod is associated in the soul with the power to contact, connect and communicate with outer reality (represented by the sefirah of malchut). The foundation (yesod) of a building is its "grounding," its union with the earth (malchut)." -http://www.inner.org/sefirot/sefyesod.htm

"The sephirah of Yesod translates spiritual concepts into actions that unite us with God" -http://www.aish.com/sp/k/48970221.html

There are many different definitions that I have either read, been told or found on some other media. Really i just kinda made it, just kinda making work as usual.

Busy Busy Busy

So as you may or may not know I will be graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in May, so you may be able to imagine that life has been a bit crazy between the BFA show, Finals, Art Sale, Gallery showing, Family visits, Baby sitting, and many other events and experiences i have been fortunate to be a part of. So here's some stuff I've worked on or currently am working on.

I'M BACK

Hello you lovely lovely people, I'm back at it again with a new blog, using the same name and domain... anyway I figure we kick things off with my BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts) gallery piece along with some picks of my group mates and classmates.

As you can see, 5 weeks of countless hours went into this 38x50in piece. It still needs a bit of touching up and finishing bits but all in all I'm proud of it.

A lot went into the making and designing of this piece including the use of depth as a factor of experiencing the fullness of it. Most of the piece was done freehand in terms of inking.

The immense amount of line was possible with the use of Rapidographs, Microns, Prismacolor, as well as Ink and Brush.

This piece was a dedication to my friend Rose's new son Ethan a.k.a E.A.T.
The last part I present you with is a mystery, if you know me well, you will see something quite appropriate.

The rest of my group as shown on this wall got a great deal of positive feedback for our presentation.

First up we have Singha Sihakhom

Then following Singha is Jeff Pak

I was next, and then following me was Ms. Erin Mitchell

Good times...
